With an exciting new initiative, IB diploma program 1 (DP 1) students will work together in creating an interdisciplinary project that is called the “Collaborative Science Project”. A science-themed pub quiz that is designed to promote teamwork between scientific disciplines, this project groups students who study Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science together to solve challenging questions under one central theme: Energy.
The idea behind the quiz is to help students collaborate beyond their familiar fields and discover how scientists from different areas work together in the real world. Each group consists of one student from each science subject, to maintain a balanced mix of knowledge and perspectives.
Additionally, all quiz questions will be created by students, each student contributing a question based on their specific subject. These questions will then be compiled and turned into an interactive digital quiz by two selected Computer Science students.
The quiz will take place during the final week of school. Teams will compete in answering questions ranging from photosynthesis to quantum energy, thermodynamics to coding logic – in other words, anything that relates to energy.
At the end, the top-performing groups will receive rewards – a surprise prepared by our teachers to encourage collaboration between students.
Even though this project was organized by the school faculty, such projects (educational quizzes for students) can be made by students and can count towards CAS Service learning.
Stay tuned for quiz day and may the most collaborative team win!
